A properly painted sash window extends the durability and improves the functionality of traditional wooden windows.

Our experienced sash window painters improve the functionality of your sash windows and use the highest quality materials to achieve a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish.

Without suitable preparation and paint application, even newly restored sashes could suffer from a number of problems:

The removal of excess paint from the sashes and sash box allows the windows to run more freely. Traditional wooden windows have often have decades' worth of well-intentioned layers of paint that inhibit the smooth running of the windows.

Another common problem is sash windows being painted shut due to incorrect painting process.

Additionally, the putty line of the exterior glazing bars should always be sealed with a thin line of paint to protect the putty from the elements and to accomplish a neat appearance of the fully restored sash window.

At The Cardiff Sash Window Company we use a range of high quality paints depending on which is best suited to any particular project along with achieving the desired colour and finish.

Conservation is at the heart of what we do. From getting stuck windows open again, repairing broken sash cords or full refurbishment and painting, we use traditional methods and the best modern materials to avoid the need for costly and time-consuming installation of new windows.

Because of our unique approach we rarely require scaffolding to carry out work and are fully compliant with local conservation regulations.

We have over five years' experience restoring and preserving traditional wooden box sash windows in historic residential and commercial properties.

Our sash window repair and painting service covers Cardiff, Penarth, Monmouth, Newport and the surrounding towns and villages.
