Common questions
Can my sash windows really be restored?
In most cases, yes. Even windows with rot can usually be repaired by splicing in new timber. Replacement is only needed when the frame is structurally beyond saving.
How long does restoration take?
A typical house takes a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the number of windows. One or two sashes at a time are taken to the workshop, with the openings securely boarded while they're away, then returned and refitted in full working order.
Will restored windows be draughty?
Restoration includes draught-proofing and new cords, so restored sashes can be far better sealed than before. We use the Mighton draught proofing system.
Do you work in conservation areas and listed buildings?
Yes. Restoration keeps the original windows and their appearance, which suits conservation areas. If your property is listed, check with your local authority before any work, as some repairs may need consent.
Would you like a ballpark price for your windows?
Send us a few photos and your postcode. We'll tell you whether they can be saved and what it will cost.
